First thing first :: while some of my plants were cuttings from friends or ones I propagated myself, most were bought online because sometimes, well, who wants to wait that long for a beautiful plant to grow?? when I'm feeling impatient, my favorite places to shop online:
- Bloomscape - The healthiest plants around, superb packaging, and they arrive super quick. To top that off, you get $15 off your first purchase, and they come already pre-potted, a huge plus if you don't have to time to deal with ugly plastic pots right away. I bought my Bird of Paradise, ZZ plant, Hoya, and OMG, the Nepenthes Pitcher Plant. Yes, it's carnivorous and I'm a vegetarian, but lots of plants = lots of bugs
- Etsy - You'll have to spend a bit of time here hunting for the best prices, free shipping, and reading seller reviews. But when I want a special plant, a rare one that's not so easy to find...Etsy is my go-to! I picked up a beautiful variegated String of Hearts, a Chinese Money plant and a gigantic Spanish Moss recently.
- The Home Depot - Who knew Home Depot had such a great selection of house plants, free delivery and great 365 days warranty! I bought the bulk of my essentials from here: a Monstera, a Cateracterum Palm Tree, Burgundy Rubber Ficus and a huge Sansevieria Laurentii Snake Plant for super reasonable prices.
